Children are obligated to honor a parent’s spouse, even if he or she is not their biological parent. Great care should be taken with this mitzva, because showing disrespect for a stepparent is showing disrespect for the parent as well. While the obligation does not extend to helping stepparents in all the ways one must help parents, they must still be treated very reventially.
