Men’s Acceptance of Shabbat

As mentioned earlier (section 13), men customarily accept Shabbat in the synagogue with the recitation of Kabbalat Shabbat. This service, filled with psalms and songs, is beloved by the masses. Each Friday evening, as the rays of the sun gradually disappear, synagogues fill up with light and joy. Community members, young and old, join together to welcome Shabbat, including many women who make efforts to participate in the service.
