Holocaust Memorial Day

Israel's Knesset established Holocaust Memorial Day (Yom HaShoah) a week after Passover, on the 27th of Nissan. However, because mourning is inappropriate during the joyous month of Nissan, the day should be marked in a positive way, with a focus on fostering the Jewish family. This is a tribute to the six million, among whose last wishes must have been for the Jewish people to continue to exist, thrive, and multiply. It helps to ensure that our people's terrible suffering – over the course of millennia and especially during the Holocaust – was not in vain. The best response to the Holocaust is for every Jew to try to marry, have many children, and continue Jewish tradition.
