Whenever the Jews experience deliverance, there is a mitzva to establish a holiday to celebrate and thank God. The Sages followed this principle when they established Purim and Ĥanuka as permanent holidays. Therefore, celebrating Independence Day is a mitzva. This includes wearing holiday clothes, having a festive meal, and celebratory prayers, among them Hallel (thanking God for our salvation).
